Truffle Season At The BrewPub
We are featuring a truffle infused food and beer pairing menu in celebration of the start of the Canberra regions truffle season. The featured truffle festival beer includes local truffles, infused through what the staff at BentSpoke call The Hopinator. The Hopinator is a permanent fixture on the bar at the BrewPub that allows the brewers to include different ingredients into the beer while it chills. Silverback is our truffle infused beer and is a dark malty strong ale infused in the hopinator with kumquats, star anise, cinnamon, nutmeg and truffles! All these flavours infused together provides a rich malty backbone with a nose of spice and citrus, perfect for a cool Canberra afternoon. To pair with Silverback, the chef has prepared an inspiring truffle menu featuring an entrée, main and dessert. The specials include:
Entrée
Silverback battered potato scallops with truffle salt and truffle aioli $9 (DF, VEG, VGNO)
Main
Chicken Maryland with roast parsnips, peas, and truffle beer jus $27 (DF, GF)
Dessert
Cheese and cracker using spent grain crackers, raw milk Manchego cheese, apple, caramelized pumpkin seeds and Silverback truffle syrup $14 (VEG)
3 course set menu price $50 with a free small Silverback or $7 small Silverback with 1 specials menu item.
The beer and food pairing will be available at the BentSpoke BrewPub in Braddon from Tuesday the 21st of June until Tuesday the 5th of July.
The truffles used at the BrewPub are from local truffle farm, Blue Frog Truffles in Sutton NSW. We’ve worked with Wayne Haslam from Blue Frog Truffles and his family for many years and really enjoy this time of year when we get to go out to the farm and hunt with him and the dogs and then be able to use those truffles in our beers and menu special items at the pub.
To go along with the truffle festival and to kick off the winter solstice on Tuesday the 21st of June, BentSpoke will be featuring a beer sample paddle, called a BentBar featuring some of the dark beers available on tap, including: Descent 22, Dick Tracy, Silverback and Fug n’ Chino.
