BentSpoke and Malt Shovel

For the third year in a row, BentSpoke and our good mates from Malt Shovel have come together to brew in tandem. This year we have gone for an Extra Belgian Ale, or XBA, continuing the collab with our love of Belgian style ales and this year bringing you an amber extra Belgian ale. This collab beer is brewed with rich deep amber malts and a farmhouse yeast. It delivers a nice clean XBA with a pronounced malty backbone. With an ABV of 6% with an IBU of 38 and a combination of Idaho 7 and Cashmere hops. This years collab will be the first time we have canned the BentSpoke and Malt Shovel collab beer and will be available in cans in all good independent retailers nationwide mid to late April.

This collab is continuing the story of BentSpoke and Malt Shovels love of Belgian beers, which are widely found In Europe, but not as easily accessible in Australia. It’s a great alternative for the two breweries to create as it’s a bit of a change from the hop forward beers that are regularly found on tap at the moment. Richard Watkins our head brewer and co-founder at BentSpoke spent some time at the Malt Shovel Brewery in his younger years, which was formerly the Hahn Brewery. The two brewers have collaborated over the years, and plan to continue bringing Australia a great collab beer from BentSpoke and Malt Shovel Brewery for many years to come.
